Sambar stag, Corbett National Park

Sambar stag

He stared at me in dead silence before the clack of the shutter sent him crashing off into the jungle

A young male Sambar stag (Rusa unicolor) seen on an early morning jeep ride in Corbett National Park, India. He stood still long enough for me to get him in focus using my 80-200mm lens before the signature clack of my D700 shutter startled him and sent him crashing off into the depths of the jungle. The Nikon D700 has a noisy shutter and for that reason I don’t think it would be a good camera for shooting wildlife; for everything else it’s awesome.
